I know it is so lame to want life to be like a movie, but you know how in "Under the Tuscan Sun" the main character finds an old stone cottage-villa and on a whim moves into it? Well, I certainly wish I had the finances to pull something like that off. Oh, the Tuscan landscape! It is more wonderful than I could have ever imagined. We went to Siena and San Giminagno, a short bus ride away from Florence, and I could have swooned with delight at the olive groves, cypruses, and vines winding up stone walls. This has been my favorite area of Italia thus far. Florence and the areas surrounding it are the epitome of beauty, truth, and bliss. It is blissful, simply put.
On another joyful note, my good friend Daniel, who is from Santa Barbara and studying abroad in Florence too, has been able to show me and my friends some fabulous Florentine hot spots. He took us to Za Za, a cozy ristorante where I delighted in chicken with truffle sauce and roasted potatoes-- definitely one of my favorite meals yet. We trucked up to Fiesole, a small town outside of Florence, that boasts a beautiful view of the whole city. Today we spent the afternoon in the Boboli Gardens, and definitely had a photo shoot among the trees and architecture.
Tomorrow we leave for Venice for three days.... Then I say goodbye to Italy!
