...Starring Marion Cotillard (gorrrrgeous).
La Vie En Rose is the story of French songbird Edith Piaf. She is most famous for singing the song, "La Vie En Rose" (written in 1945, eerily and significantly at the end of WWII), which happens to be on my life soundtrack.

Wasn't she so cute when she was younger?
The reason you want to see this movie is mainly to watch Cotillard kick boot-ay. She is the definition of an actress. Cotillard flings herself into Edith Piaf. Although she has extraordinary makeup that helps the transformation, Cotillard brings so much energy to becoming Piaf. It is evident in the way she carries herself, the way she speaks; her whole demeanor transforms. I seriously can't get over it. Marion Cotillard is bomb.
La Vie En Rose is at times difficult to watch. Piaf' teetered the fine line between a glamourous life and a life in the gutter. But her life deserves recognition. The magnificance in Piaf's voice is utterly ridiculous. The end scene features one of Piaf's last performances, and I get goosebumps watching it. She sings "Non, je ne regrette rien" (No, I don't regret anything). There is such tremendous power in her expression and her stature, despite being quite ill at this point in time. You really believe that she doesn't regreat anything.
Unbelievable.
Rent it now.

Great movie. Astonishing performance. Hard to believe that the Academy actually did the right thing. Glad you liked it.
