A Shift in the Wind

It's funny to look back on this blog entry: I want to de-masculine-ize you, men of the world. Burn me at the gender-stake, why don't you! (3/24/08)

...and this blog entry: A perfect picture of hopelessness, frustration, and maybe a little bit of drunkenness. Men will do that to ya. (4/24/08)

...and even this blog entry: I wish I could still believe that there are gentlemen out there somewhere, good men who see the value in loving a woman who deserves all the happiness and kindness in the world. (7/13/08)

Because something has changed.

I'm still not quite convinced that it's true... And maybe my slight distrust and disbelief has something to do with past experiences and experiences of those around me... Examples of men treating women badly. I'm talking about sickos, chauvinists, ego-centrists, liars, and the emotionally disabled. The kind of stuff that makes convents seem like attractive locales.

But the winds are beginning to shift. That hopelessness and frustration I felt in regards to men has all but disappeared. Because I happen to know this one guy who calls when he says he's going to call, and takes things at a good, slow pace. And dare I say this "one guy" is a gentlemen? Dare I say it, people? Opens doors for girl... Check. Offers girl his coat... Check. Pays for dinner and drinks... Check. Introduces girl to all his friends... Check. Texts after a date to say he had a great time... Check. Hmm. Interesting.

You know what the weirdest part is? I no longer look at public displays of affection with utter disgust. I understand now...

The Allie you know is changing her ways. Be prepared.

Jump in Allie, with eyes wide open.
Soak up all the goodness he has to give, then splash him with waves of kindness and laughter.
I'm SO anticipating updates ;)
