Honore Bakery

A couple weeks ago, Stacey and I went to the much talked-about Honore Bakery in north Ballard. First of all, it's in one of the most charming micro-hoods in Seattle, which I refer to as 70th Street. You've got the bakery, a pizza place, a yoga studio, and an umbrella shop (yes, an umbrella shop!) among other enchanting things.

But the bakery. Oh, the bakery. It's quite small, especially emphasized by the number of people packed into it, waiting to get their pastry fix. And you can see bakers making more treats in the open kitchen, which is one of my favorite details of any bakery.

But on to the most important thing: the pastries themselves. I chose a pear frangipane tartelette and it was buttery, flaky, and fresh. In other words, perfect.

Next time I go back, my mission is to purchase a box of their macaroons (in case you weren't already convinced to go there, yes, they make French macaroons). One in each flavor.
