The "Laguna Beach" franchise gave birth to both evil and good. Evil in the form of Speidi (introduced in the first spin-off series "The Hills")... as well as, arguably, many other evils (Kristin Cavallari, Audrina, a skewed vision of life as a twentysomething living in L.A... The list could go on, really).
And finally, good in the form of Whitney Port (also introduced in "The Hills," as Lauren's confidant, both sweet and wise; and now in her own series "The City," which I heard was just cancelled. Bummer.). Whitney can be regarded as the most fashion-forward of the bunch, and the least back-stabbyish. She makes menswear items like blazers and large wristwatches feminine, and rocker items like loose tanks, black Converse, and fringy jewelry look chic. Bravo, Whitney, and sorry that your show was canceled. I have a feeling it won't be the end of the world for you.
