New York City was quite a whirlwind. My mom and I kept busy busy busy. We went to lots of different neighborhoods: Little Italy, SoHo, East Village, West Village, Chelsea, Union Square... I think one of my favorites was SoHo: Great shopping (Opening Ceremony, TopShop) and a fun young people vibe.
We ate delicious food: Torrisi Italian Specialties was my favorite (got a chicken parm sandwich and a beer, such an amazing lunch); we also had pizza at the famed Lombardi's, a veritable Italian feast at Da Nico in charming Little Italy; I had a delicious plate of coffee crusted Monkfish with asparagus and mushroom at The Redhead; and of course we had lots of fun munchies from Dean & Deluca.
The MoMA was awesome. I'm a big fan of Modern and Contemporary art, so it was quite a treat. We saw the Broadway musical Promises, Promises, starring Sean Hayes (Jack from "Will & Grace") and performer extraordinaire Kristin Chenoweth. It was adorable, and impressive, and I could not believe how lucky I was to see those two superstars perform.
AND we saw three and a half celebrities: the aforementioned Michael Lohan (he's the half) and Kevin Bacon, comedian Louis C.K. who we saw in the West Village, and Russell Brand in SoHo.
New York is a crazy/wonderful city. I feel like I'm still reeling from the fast pace of it all... Glad to be back, and glad my Mom and I made lots of good memories.
