Fantasy vs. Reality

I am currently stuck in a sparkly haze of Disney magic. And that's quite alright by me. Last night I saw Tangled, and you might be saying, "Allie: why in the world did you go spend $11 on an animated movie that looks kind of hokey?" And my answer would be something like, "SHUT UP!" Just kidding.

Movies like Tangled are what I grew up with. I mean, the first movie I ever saw was Lady and the Tramp, for goodness sake! So, these Cinderellas, Peter Pans, and Sleeping Beautys really get to me; like, restore my childhood innocence, my belief in true love conquering all (baaaarrrrfffff), and my tendency towards pretending life is a musical
.

So why wouldn't I see Tangled, a retelling of the Rapunzel fairytale, about a princess who doesn't know she's a princess, and wants to see the world but is psychologically stunted thanks to her overprotective mother.

This is my dilemma: In the last 24 hours, I uttered the phrase "I'm not looking for Mr. Right, I'm looking for Mr. Right Now" more than once. Corny? Yes. But it's sort of the truth; I'm in such an odd state-of-mind romantically speaking. And then I'm reminded of that deep-rooted love I have for Disney, and stories that end in a happily ever after sort of manner....

Maybe in my fantasies, I'll have that true love with petty thieves, princes under magical spells, and swashbuckling fellas... and in reality I'll just keep hooking up with okay dudes. God, that's depressing.

PS: I keep listening to this song over and over again. Zachary Levi, I believe you are The One.

  1. My friend back home and I call this the "bored syndrome"...and you have to pull yourself out of it!!!!!!! Do you know how many stupid decisions I've made concerning guys solely because: "Well, I'm just really bored with guys right now..."
We can discuss later...not on your blog comments. Ha.

  3. Zachary Levi was hands down my favorite part of the movie! I wish he sang on 'Chuck' more (because then I'd start watching it again).

  4. Yeah I hear ya. I was chatting with some of my other single girls recently and what you're saying pretty much sums up how we/they feel. I know a few friends who are with someone 'okay' just for the sake of not being single. I refuse to be one of those! I'm sure there are (straight!) guys out there who want to be in your musical with you Allie!

  5. Hang in there girl. And don't be afraid to take it out with a little extra home cooking (and red wine). True love will find you in the end.
