One Day Movies

Movies that take place in a 24 hour time period (approximately). Let's have a look at some of the best, shall we?

Empire Records, 1995. A crazy day at a crazy record store with all the crazy, albeit young and hip, employees. Basically, the ultimate ode to a dying out industry. Highlights: The soundtrack, Debi Mazar, 90s clothing. Quote: "Damn the man. Save the Empire."

200 Cigarettes, 1999. Lots of different storylines, intertwining, on New Year's Eve 1981. Highlights: Such an amazing ensemble cast, notably Courtney Love being slightly normal and Casey Affleck with eyeliner. Just ignore: Christina Ricci's high-pitched whining.

Ferris Beuller's Day Off, 1986. Ferris is the coolest kid in the Chicago suburbs, and therefore has an amazing day playing hooky with his girlfriend and bff Cameron. Highlights: Matthew Broderick's adorable face, the scene above between Charlie Sheen and Jennifer Grey (winning). Quote: "Ferris Bueller, you're my hero."

The Breakfast Club, 1985. Five very different high school students spend a Saturday in detention together, and their lives change... forever. JK about the last part. Highlights: The stick-it-to-the-man ending, amazing dance sequence. Just ignore: Judd Nelson's huge nostrils.

Before Sunrise, 1995. A French girl and an American guy meet on a train in Vienna and decide to spend the day together in the city. Highlights: Romaaaaance!!! Just ignore: Will Ethan Hawke ever wash his hair?!

Wet Hot American Summer, 2001. It's the last day of summer camp at Camp Firewood in the year 1981; a lot is at stake. Will Victor lose his virginity? Will the talent show go off without a hitch? Will Coop win over the heart of his love, Katie? Highlights: Knee socks, fridge-humping, going into town (only for an hour). Quote: "I went to camp so long ago that I can remember saying "sticks and stones may break my bones" and meaning it!"

American Graffiti, 1973. A bunch of friends spend one crazy night together before parting ways for college. Highlights: Young Richard Dreyfuss and Harrison Ford; so adorable! Quote: "You're the most beautiful, exciting thing I've ever seen in my life and I don't know anything about you."

I do love me some "Back to the Future," but I checked, and it's not a 24-hour movie :(

Love this! Can I add 'Can't Hardly Wait' to this? I think it was a 24 hour period!

I love Can't Hardly Wait! That totally counts! Funny how a lot of these films involve teens :)
