Much Ado

Last night I saw my college's production of Much Ado About Nothing, my favorite Shakespeare play. The above will always be my favorite version though. Kenneth and Emma forever!

I do want to see Joss Whedon's much-buzzed about movie version of it, whenever that's going to be released. And then of course there is the Catherine Tate/David Tennant theatre version, which apparently you can rent on amazon.co.uk (Maryann, can you confirm this?).

Sonnet Suggestions

I have decided to memorize one of Shakespeare's sonnets before I graduate. Which gives me a month. I don't have a favorite sonnet as of yet in my life, so if anyone out there has a favorite they can suggest to me, I would be most appreciative.

Rock Me, Sexy Jesus

I am in a thoroughly enjoyable Shakespeare course right now, in which I have discovered that the greatest playwright of all time was secretly a feminist.
But that's a whole other story.
What I really want to say is this: I hate "Hamlet." Maybe I just hate Hamlet the character. He is whiny. He, according to my brilliant professor, Tom Amorose, is an "emo." Hamlet is so boo-hooey over the fact that his dad was secretly killed by Uncle Claudius and that his mom married Uncle Claudius promptly after dad's funeral. Hey, I'd be upset too. But instead of taking my sweet time, contemplating suicide, acting like a crazy person, and getting pissed at my girl Ophelia, I would just be like, "Yo Claudius, I'm gonna pop a cap in thou ass."
"Hamlet" is rotten, but I'm hoping it's long anticipated sequel will be better. Yes, that's right. Despite everyone dying at the end of "Hamlet," a movie is coming out this summer that will miraculously revive the characters. And Jesus is in it too! I might be sent to hell for seeing this movie, but at least I'll have a few laughs. Watch the trailor for HAMLET 2.
