Bonjour, mon amis!
So far Paris has been one lovely event after another. Out of all of the places I have been, this is the one I could actually live in.
This morning I went on my own to petit dejeuner (breakfast) at one of the many cafes. Let me tell you first of all that it is hotter than anything in the city. It was probably in the high 70s at 10 this morning. But I digress. I felt quite good about myself because I ventured out on my own, found a wonderful cafe, and ordered my petit dejeuner in French. The standard breakfast consists of:
one cafe (no creme, so I add lots of sugar)
one pressed orange juice (fresh and pulpy)
one croissant
I have already conquered the Louvre... Actually, it conquered me. After two hours in that gargantuan beast I retreated out to sit by the glass pyramids and people watch. Even my mother would have been overwhelmed, and she has great stamina when it comes to museums. I did see the Mona Lisa... I expected to be disappointed, but I really was not. She is Mona Lisa, for goodness sake! Even if she is small, you cannot help but be a little captivated by her. I also saw many other DaVinci works: His portrait of another pretty lady, and of Salome holding the head of John the Baptist were my favorite. The Louvre also has a very impressive Egyptian collection, which made me think of Mom; we share a love for anything Egypt. Mom, lets go back and peruse the collection together, okay?
Other than that, I have mostly enjoyed strolling, eating, and loving the company I am surrounded with. I think those things are the key to a good life in Paris.
