Bella, Brownies, Ballet Flats, and "The Blob"

Well, I would first like to take this opportunity to apologize for not posting in a bajillion years. You see the thing is... TECHNOLOGY SUCKS BALLS. Yah. Strong words, I know. But seriously. My nearly four-year-old laptop decides to leave me in the dark. Meaning, the light on the moniter is broken or burnt out or something like that. My computer-savvy coworker at the Boys & Girls Club confirmed this and told me how many bones it would cost to fix... approx. 200. Then he has the nerve to tell me to just buy a new computer. I wanted to punch him in the face for his idiocy. I kid, he's a really nice guy.

Here are some issues that need to be discussed:

Number one: I am done with the "Twilight" series. Many have asked what my thoughts are on the final book of the series, "Breaking Dawn." I'm sad to say that I was disappointed with it. It was a little too slow-moving for me and the end was so anticlimactic that I nearly fell asleep. No epic battle between the Volturi and motley crew of vampires and werewolves (or should I say "shape-shifters")? I am reminded of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" and how the fight scene at the end was so killer and exciting. None of that in "Breaking Dawn." Everything wrapped up too neatly. On the other hand, Stacey told me she cried at the end of the book, so my opinion could be the only one out there. Still, (and this is spoiler alert time for any who are planning to read this book) I thoroughly enjoyed all of the nondescript sex scenes between Bella and Edward, that left all the steamy details up to the imagination. Oh, Mormon writers. You kill me. But seriously, I love how vampires are so HORN-DOGGY. Can you believe it took Rosalie and Emmett a decade to bridle their passion? Yeesh. My favorite moment of the book is Bella's and Edward's honeymoon night because I got to read it aloud with my best friends while we waited to board a ferry back to Seattle. We were DYING. It was the moment we had all been waiting for. Thanks to all who have gone on the Twilight journey with me. I'm so glad I'm not the only one out there.

Regarding brownies: I'm trying to decide whether it was a good idea to yesterday make a half batch of No-Pudge Brownies in the microwave, eat them out of the baking container on the couch while watching a 90's chick flick and finally fall asleep for an hour, no doubt a result from my moment of gluttony. Good idea or bad idea. I can't decide. I really had nothing better to do so I'm going to say it was two hours well spent. Just not my proudest moment as of late.

I have this little cleaning ritual. When I clean, say, a kitchen, I feel the need to dress nicely. This morning I put on a striped sweater, a white cotton skirt, and ballet flats-- very Parisian, d'accorde. Also, I must have music to set the mood. Lately it has been dear George Michael's ditty, "Freedom." Thus the dull act of cleaning becomes so much more of an experience.

On bad monster movies: Old monster movies have a special place in my Fraley heart. And one of my favorite memories from my childhood is watching "The Blob" with my family one New Year's Eve. "The Blob," from 1958, stars Steve McQueen in what is I believe his first feature film. Everyone else in the movie seem to be the blandest over-actors I've ever laid eyes on. But the real shining star in this movie is the Blob, a purpley gelatonous... blob (for lack of better word) that falls from space in a meteor and kind of eats people I guess. I don't know, it's kind of vague. The greatest part of this movie is the theme song; very swanky, with the lyrics: "Beware of the Blob it creeps, and sweeps, and slides and glides across the floor, duh-duh duh-duh duh-duuuh duh duh duh duh. POP!" The last part is someone doing one of those mouth pop thingies. And the slew of "duh duh"'s represent the fact that no one in my family knows the last part of the lyrics. But ask any of us Fraley's and we will gladly sing it for you.

  1. Okay so about this Twilight series. Obviously they are a big deal...BUT I couldn't figure out if they were just a tween big deal or an adult big deal too.
I'm not so sure the plot SOUNDS that great in theory...basically all I keep hearing over and over again is about the crazy sexual tension between the characters and that's really it. (I don't know anyone who's read them, I'm just going by mag reviews and such).
So tell me friend, is there more to it than that? You read the whole series so that's something to say for them. I super like the size and cover art on the books so I want to get them but just want to make sure I'm not just buying into hype.
    Yes? No? Maybe So?
