You will notice two new things in the image above:
One- My necklace. It was given to me by the best boyfriend in the world. I picked it out at one of my favorite Seattle boutiques, Essenza. The necklace was made by Zoe Chicco.
Two- My earrings. Wait a sec--earrings?! Yes! I got my ears pierced. I turned 26 (not 11) and got my ears pierced. The truth is, I first got my ears pierced at age 12, but then they closed up because I wasn't really into them. But Josh and I were at Northgate Mall (had a craving for Red Robin) and I thought, hey, I should go to Claire's like a teeny-bopper and do this. Josh held my hand during the process. I chose simple cubic zirconia studs, which I think make me look more grown up and feminine.
I don't mean to always brag about how awesome Josh is, but for real. He sent me the above on Friday. They were actually meant to come on Valentine's Day, but the order got screwed up. So they turned out to be post-Valentines/pre-birthday flowers!

I did a little birthday-Downtown shopping on Saturday, which was pretty fun. Honestly, I was feeling a little down because I feel like I'm in a fashion rut. I don't feel sexy in the clothes I have. Which is a silly thing to get down about, I know. And I wasn't really liking the styles I was seeing in the shops. I bought a few fun items from Anthropologie:
I bought some really great new makeup items from Nordstrom... A Bare Escentuals kit (this stuff is amazing. All-powder foundation. Sounds crazy, but it works. It also acts as a concealer). NARS blush in Gina. It's a great tawny/orange shade that looks fabulous with red lips. Which is why I also got NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil in Dragon Girl.
Stopped into J. Crew and got the following:
I'm wearing both right now. I had a little gift card for Barnes & Noble, so I got the latest issue of British Vogue. Oh my goodness, I love it (slightly more than the American Vogue even!). The design is fabulous and it seems to be more about fashion than anything. The cover really caught my eye:

My actual birthday started out very low-key. Josh and I lounged around all day, which was perfect. He also made me really good cupcakes (the frosting from scratch)! Yeah. I'm not making this up. Dinner at La Bete was good. We got:
-A cheese plate with honeycomb, fig compote and Macrina breads
-Grilled calamari with manilla clams, chorizo, fingerling potatoes, fennel and pimenton
-Risotto with truffle mushrooms and artichoke
Then we went to karaoke, and a few of my friends joined us. So much fun! Lots of whiskey-gingers. I sang "Straight Up" by Paula Abdul and "Umbrella" by Rihanna. Josh serenaded me with "One Time" by Justin Bieber and "Baby, Baby" by Amy Grant. We both sang "A Whole New World." Aneisa brought the house down with "Son of a Preacher Man." Leslie and I dueted to "Endless Love." A bunch of girls sang "When You Believe" from The Prince of Egypt (RIP, Whitney). It was good fun, and I felt very loved.

Happy Birthday! It sounds like you had a super fun weekend. Also, I'm in the same boat as you with a fashion rut but for a different reason. You have such a great eye, I'm sure you will get over it soon!
Sounds great! No birthday blues this year.
I do need to set you straight about the pierced ears:
You were ten. It's not that you weren't into them, you had to take them out for softball (THAT you weren't into) and it was a pain to put them back in, so they grew back together.
No, I was not 10, I was 12. I remember.
Okay. But does the softball part ring true?
best birthday ever! And I LOVED that Vogue cover. Lana Del Rey is on the March ish. And, sorry A-dub, but I prefer British Vogue too. Less ads!
