Last week, Nordstrom debuted their latest Pop-In theme: Eats. It features non-perishable food items such as pastas, sauces, tea, coffee, salts, cocktail mixers, and Japanese candy. The set-up is on-theme, resembling a specialty food shop (think Dean & Deluca — or DeLaurenti for Seattle natives), with high metal shelving displaying goods and even a checkout stand with faux conveyer belt.
I loved seeing local and Pacific Northwest brands featured, including Pok Pok and Olympia Provisions (two Portland haunts that I recently visited). Also included are kitschy food related accessories (that hot dog stapler is one of my favorites) and kitchen décor. It's a kooky collection of the utilitarian and the tongue-in-cheek, each thing celebrating the joy of eating.
