Scents

Last night was fascinating and fabulous. I made two scents: One is alcohol based and has civet, violet, amber, and leather. It's very manly and I love it. The second is rosewater based, so it's lighter and can be used as a linen spray or body spray. It has moroccan rose, civet*, and musk. Each of those scents has aphrodisiacal properties, so I wanted to combine them to create a olfactory SEX BOMB.

What I learned from the fine ladies at Kaleidoscope:

+Amber+
Used by Roman women as a protection against witchcraft. Powerful medicine in hysteric and hypochondriac cases.

+Civet+
Used since ancient times as an aphrodisiac.

+Musk+
Aphrodisiac. Promotes prosperity and wealth.

+Rose+
Used to attract love, sex, and promotes beauty and creativity.

+Lavender+
Used as a headache preventative. Very calming. Promotes love and peace.

+Orange+
Used for purification. Brings joyous energy to wearer. Helps balance chakras.

+Patchouli+
Rejuvenating; money-drawing.

+Sandalwood+
Promotes spirituality, healing, and aids in meditation.

+Vetiver+
Protecting and grounding.

Where to find good oils in Seattle:

Tenzing Momo & Co. in Pike Place Market
Zenith Supplies

*Civet is a scent historically extracted from the gland of a cat-like mammal called a Civet (duhr). Today, most variations of the species are endangered so the scent is now artificially concocted.

Anointing Oils and Perfumes

I'm so excited to be going to a workshop tonight on  anointing oils and perfumes at the Seattle boutique Kaleidoscope Vision. I'll be learning the history of perfume, the mystical and aromatherapeutic properties of anointing oils, and I'll be making my own signature scent. Moorea will be joining me. Should be interesting!

For my 16th birthday, my parents gave me my first "grown up" perfume: Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. Well, in a couple weeks I'll be turning 26, and so I thought it would be good to pick out a new signature scent, since it's been 10 years since receiving my last one. Here are some scents I'm interested in...
