Today on Hello Giggles, Caragh Pogh posted her favorite romantic scenes in movies. It's a great list. And it inspired me to make my own:
Record store scene from Before Sunrise
I love the little glances and smiles going on. So much romantic tension. At one point it seems like Ethan Hawke's character is going to make a move (0:45) but then he doesn't. It's all about the build-up though.

Poolside scene from The Philadelphia Story (click to see on YouTube)
First of all, their banter is amazing. "The time to make up your mind about people is never." And they're drunk. "Yes I am, are you." And then Jimmy Stewart starts doing his Jimmy Stewart thing, saying beautiful things to Katherine. Then! He grabs her! Kisses her! "Golly!"
Poor Meg Ryan, all vulnerable waiting for NY152. Then he comes, and Tom Hanks kind of throws his hands up like, "I'm sorry, Kathleen, it's just me." Now, I love watching Meg's face because I think she doesn't really get it at first, that NY152 is Joe Fox (F-o-x). She's just happy to see him at first, and thinks it's funny that he's there. Then it hits her. And she starts to cry. And does that little shoulder thing. And Tom Hanks has a HANKY to wipe her tears away.
Han and Leia's kiss in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
This one really gets to me. So much sexual tension between these two. They want each other. But they're so used to bickering with one another. Hot. And I think Leia's line, "I happen to like nice men," is one of my favorite movie lines ever. I mean, yeah, Leia, I happen to like nice men too, until a dude in a sexy 70s vest decides to jump me. I swear if I could live out one movie scene, this. might. be. it.

"Just as you are" scene from Bridget Jones's Diary (click to see on YouTube)
I remember the first time I saw this. I was 17 or 18. And I had a realization. "Oh! That's the kind of guy that I want." Oh, Mark Darcy. Giving all of us clumsy, non-thin girls hope. It really is what every girl wants to hear from a man.
What are your favorite romantic scenes?

Almost any scene in Love Actually (though Colin Firth's proposal in Portuguese may be my favorite), and the end of Singles ("I was just nowhere near your neighborhood").
And speaking of Colin Firth......Mr. Darcy.....dripping wet....stepping out of the pond...hmmmm. (Does it not count as a "movie", though?"
The end of 16 Candles when he picks her up and takes her home for birthday cake on the glass table. Oh, Jake!
pride and prejudice. keira knightly version. the hand clench scene. *shivers*
and the before sunrise scene is great. sexual tension is my favourite.
That Before Sunrise scene KILLS!
And Han: "There aren't enough scoundrels in your life"...you tell 'em!
But this one has always been my favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxovZ5ATKAA
(Guy & Fey) :)
Love Actually... YES! I've only seen Singles once, so I definitely need to watch it again.
I think the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice counts. And I loooove the end of Sixteen Candles ("Yeah, you!")
My favorite new version of Pride and Prejudice is the scene in the rain...
That Thing You Do... what a great kiss.
why why why are the cheesiest ones the best? the ones that make my roommates roll their eyes at me are the ones i can't help but watch over and over again. for example, the rowboat/why didn't you write me/make up scene kiss from the notebook (of course) and the scene from love actually where the guy shows up at keira knightley's door and holds up the signs. "to me, you are perfect". sigh.
I loved this idea so much I did one over at my blog!! Love this idea... and I love Courtney's fave from Love Actually. So awesome.
