Musicians of Yore

Recently watched two great documentaries...

Jobriath A.D. tells the story of a glam rock god who never was. He was so talented and yet was unable to gain the type of popularity that David Bowie had. I am listening to a lot of glam rock now because of it.

The Punk Singer is about Kathleen Hanna, the lead singer of the groundbreaking feminist 90s band Bikini Kill. She was and still is an amazing presence in the modern feminist journey.

Broad City

This internet show Broad City is becoming a real TV show on Comedy Central in January. It's produced by Amy Poehler, so you know it's going to be awesome.

Get Your Wes Anderson Fix Right Here

A film for Prada starring Jason Schwartzman. Written and directed by Wes Anderson.

Girls and Compliments

Comedy Central

Amy Schumer hit the nail right on the head with this one.

I think my favorite line is: "It's probably made out of old Burger King crowns."

P.S. Sorry if the language offends anyone.

Rebel, Rebel

I really can't get enough of this woman. Her facial expressions alone. Here's another.

I saw Pitch Perfect this weekend and it was LIFE. CHANGING. Anyone want to start an all female a cappella group just for fun??

Black and Gold

Love this song and music video. C/O Kaleidoscope Vision.

Good Morning, Slugs

This is what I get to wake up to most mornings... this morning was different. Slugs went to the vet yesterday and got a few shots. We're thinking that she had a bad reaction to one of the shots, because she was not herself this morning... Very weak, and unwilling to get up from her bed. Her nose and tongue were really hot. A fever, maybe? So we treated her like a little invalid princess and brought her food to her (which she ate uncharacteristically slow) and set a little water glass by her bed. Ah, the things you do for adorable pets. If you can send Slugs some healthy vibes, I'd sure appreciate it!

Troop Beverly Hills

This was on TV the other night, so obviously I drank a lot of wine and watched the whole thing. If you haven't seen it, where have you been since 1989?!

In Cat News...

I'm your Venus, I'm your fire, your desire.

The Language of Women

Highly recommend watching The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet ... who apparently used to romp around with Courtney Love in the 90s?? Anyway, it's a fun range of celebs who open up about real lady issues. You can watch episodes for free on Vimeo.

2 Days in New York

I can't wait to see this movie. It's the sequel to 2 Days in Paris, a wonderful film from a few years ago. I think Julie Delpy is so talented and gorgeous (girl crush!). I want to be just like her when I grow up.

Today in Cute Cat News:

Lil' Bub is a "perma-kitten," meaning she will always have kitten-like features no matter how old she gets. She is also a dwarf, meaning her limbs are disproportionately small relative to the rest of her body. She was the runt of her litter -- not bred to look the way she does -- and has an extra toe on each of her feet and 22 claws in all.

 Read more about Bub.

Cry Fest

I love elephants so much.

Am I being punked?

I can't tell if this is real or not. I've looked it up... I'm really not sure. But it is GENIUS.

Celebs I would have written fan faction about at that age:

-David Boreanez (Angel from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer")
-Freddy Prinze Jr.
-Ricky Martin ... I know, I know...

Your Sister's Sister

Very excited to see this. I love these three actors.

Take This Waltz

Ayayay! This looks like a thoughtful little film. Great cast too!

God is Bigger Than Elvis

A couple weeks ago, I saw a beautiful and inspiring documentary called God is Bigger Than Elvis. It's about a woman named Dolores Hart, a young Hollywood actress with a bright future. She gave Elvis his first on-screen kiss. But in the middle of her acting career, Hart decided she had another calling to take: she became a Benedictine nun at an abbey in Connecticut.

If you have HBO, you'll be able to watch it there... But unfortunately I can't find a trailer for the film or any information on when it will be available for viewing anywhere else.

Here's an earlier interview with Dolores:

Eh, whaat are you doing hurrre?

Did you guys see this sketch on last weekend's Saturday Night Live? Oh man, I watch it over and over again and giggle every time. My good friends up here in the NW sometimes make fun of my So Cal accent that comes out every now and then. Whatever, I'm cool.
