The inevitable "Bright Star" post

"I was floating above the trees, with my lips connected to that of a beautiful figure."

"When I don't hear from him, it's as if I've died."

One of my favorite scenes.

The thing about Bright Star is that you know going into it that it's going to end badly. But I wasn't sad throughout the film. Because Jane Campion made the love of John Keats and Fanny Brawne so bold and present. I was happy that they had that time together. Bright Star is subtly romantic; maybe it's the realistic quality to their relationship. It feels as if it could have been a present-day love.
