This Sunday is my 26th birthday! I'm very excited. Josh and I are going out to dinner at La Bete, and then my friends and I will go to a karaoke bar. And of course the conclusion to series two of Downton Abbey is happening this weekend!

11 RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME
1. I got hit by a car at the age of three.
2. I used to do musical theatre in junior high/high school.
3. I have perfect vision, but I love wearing (non-prescription) glasses .
4. I played the xylophone in my school band at age 12... I played horribly. I am no good at instruments, but I'm making myself learn the ukulele.
5. I won a city art scholarship when I was 18, but decided not to major in art once I came to college.
6. I once went to a public pool with the 80s/90s supermodel Kathy Ireland, who was my friend's godmother. She was really nice.
7. Growing up, my family had a pet tarantula, and a pet king snake (not at the same time).
8. When I first moved to Seattle for college, I was very lonely, so I used to walk around the Queen Anne neighborhood and look for cats to pet.
9. My boyfriend and I met a dance club, but we are both pretty introverted people... We weren't expecting such a situation.
10. When I was about 11, I accidentally hit my best friend on the forehead with a baseball bat. She had to go to the hospital and get stitches.
11. I'm afraid of moths.
QUESTIONS FROM MOOREA
1. Who do you feel most similar to in your family and why? Probably my mom because we are both into art and good food, and are a little animal-crazy. Also, we look a lot alike.
2. What do you wish you could say to yourself at age 13? Don't hang out with the popular kids because they are mean; seek out deep friendships. Act your age. Be nice to your parents.
3. How do you treat yo self? My boyfriend would probably say that I "treat myself" too much. I've kind of always been a princess. I like being comfortable. I try to get a pedicure every month (mostly because I love the massage chair). I live to eat; love going out to try new restaurants and making delicious dinners. I like to buy flowers for myself every so often. I want to be like Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway; an artist of life..... And I love shopping. Don't judge. Life is short; why not enjoy it?
4. How do you try to improve yourself? I do an intensive workout class twice a week, yoga once a week, and try to lift weights once a week. I am far from "in-shape," but I'm trying to treat my body well. I'm also *trying* to read every day. Reading is so good for you.
5. What/Where is your favorite place to go in your town/city? One of my favorite places is the Volunteer Park Conservatory in Seattle, a Victorian-era greenhouse with lots of cool little habitats. It's amazing in there.
6. What was your first job? I worked at Natural Cafe in Santa Barbara.
7. What was your worst job? Natural Cafe wasn't super fun; I hated my second year of working at the Seattle Children's Theatre...
8. What are you proud of in yourself? Gosh, I don't know... I'm proud that I went to therapy for about two years during a tough time in my life. I learned a lot about myself.
9. Do you have a guilty pleasure? Taco Bell. And television (preferably both at the same time)
10. Who inspires you most right now? The ladies of Advanced Style. They're all seniors, and live life to the fullest and love expressing themselves through art and fashion.
11. What is something that you wish you could have made, invented, created or designed and why? I wish I created some amazing article of clothing that makes girls go googly. Like a great high heel or dress. That would be awesome.

i love seeing the questions that you are asking of your friends. I just realized that the questions we ask of others are SO reflective of ourselves and the questions we ask ourselves! My questions were mostly introspective and work related. yours were more playful, feminine and dreamy (way more inspiring than mine!! haha) And my sisters questions were more related to home, coziness and memories.
I think analyzing the questions we ask really reflect the state we are in. I'm always worried about work and stability and I'm in an inspiration lull right now. My sister is moving soon as saying goodbye to childhood and "home" and moving to be closer to her sweetheart. And from the questions you asked, it sounds like you are in a really happy and fun place right now allie :) that makes me happy!!

1. What is your favorite memory from your childhood?
I love the few memories I have from when we lived in England. Hedgehogs, stinging nettle, my godmother, and rainbows.
2. What historical figure would you like to go on a date with?
One of the disciples, because sometimes I feel as stupid as most of them were at times.
3. What do you do when you've had a bad day?
Drive!
4. What is your specialty in the kitchen?
Stir fry!
5. If you found $20 on the ground, how would you spend it?
I wouldn't take it. I don't even believe in taking pennies off the ground. My dad once said "They didn't mean to lose it, what if the owner comes back to find it and it isn't there?"
6. What did you have for breakfast today?
Nothing yet. But I'll have my daily smoothie and a cup of Constant Comment!
7. What is your dream vacation?
South America with my boyfriend.
8. Your cocktail of choice?
I just had a basil martini the other night. It was divine!
9. What were you into as a teenager?
No two days were alike.
10. What is your beauty product of choice?
Brown and gold eyeshadow brings out my green eyes!
11. If you could live in any other decade, which would you choose?
Something much more simple than this one.
Great questions! <3
happy birthday friend! hope we can have another impromptu happy hour date again.
and my dad sent an email to all of us kids reminding us that the season finale for downton is this sunday. oh dan.
so sweet that you walked around looking for cats to pet when you started college. but kind of heart breaking too :( and amen about treating yourself! good for you, girl :)
here are my answers:
1) fav memory from childhood: going to family bible camp was always a blast. but one specific memory was at my old house, i was laying in the hammock with dad in our side yard, sharing a double orange popsicle and mom yelled out the window that The Munsters were coming on soon, so we should come in. i don't know why that memory stands out, but i was happy, so i like it.
2) historical figure to date: jeez i dunno. i think jfk would have been a blast to go out with. nothing serious, just drinks and some fun. the usual for him :)
3) when i've had a bad day: i eat a lot of chocolate usually. try to get outside. vent to my sister. cuddle with my fiance.
4) in the kitchen, i'm a big cookie girl. love me some sweets.
5) $20 on the ground, honestly i'd try to find who it belonged to. i know that sounds so goody-goody, but i know it sucks to lose money, so i'd try. if no one claimed it, i think i'd just pick something off my running wish list. a new shirt, or nail polish and ice cream. or some drinks at happy hour with ben.
6) breakfast this morning was special k with chocolate. it lets me eat chocolate before 10 am without feeling too bad about it :)
7) dream vacation is greece. or hawaii. so much beauty, so much relaxing. perfect.
8) cocktail of choice: rum and coke. it reminds me of breaking rules with my guy friends in college. which we still do cause we're still in college, but it's one of those things that i'm nostalgic as it's happening. plus it tastes damn good.
9) as a teen, i was just into boys. ha. i had a different boyfriend every month. i loved doing school musicals with my friends too. but that was pretty much it. boys and dancing. ha.
10) beauty product: jeez, i dunno. blush is my favorite i guess. i don't feel pretty without some blush on. i've always used covergirl, but i splurged on NARS last time and honestly, it hasn't been worth it. i think i need to try the cream kind maybe.
11) any other decade would have been the late 60's/early 70's. carefree hippie days :)
