Yesterday was a Fall-spectacular kind of day.
ONE Stacey and I mulled wine. We used some pre-mixed mulling spices I got last year at Peet's Coffee, some Charles Shaw wine (only the finest), Trader Joe's spiced cider, and a little bit of sugar.
TWO We made an apple pie from scratch. Here's the recipe we used. It was fairly simple although something was off because when we cut into the pie after it had baked, there was a LOT of liquid from the apples (anyone know what happened?).
THREE We carved pumpkins, and roasted the pumpkin seeds. They're now sitting on our porch, and I plan to put tea lights in them tonight.
I LOVE FALL!!!

Wow. So impressed!
oh my gosh. your pie. what a beauty.
and the cider-spices sound so autumny and good. plus a rainy day in seattle? could you get any cozier?!
Ummmm...maybe you used the wrong kind of apples or did it call for flour, tapioca, cornstarch to be mixed with the apples? I know! Ask Martha Stewart. I'm sure it still tasted amazing, so don't worry about it.
wow. that looks fantastic.
"You are what you eat" is what I always say...your apple pie looks amazing! We just have extraordinary apples in WA...also, where did your recipe come from?...your Mama-Mia is correct!!
envious of your lattice crust making abilities! it's something I've never been able to master.
I have to give credit to my amazing room-mate for succeeding on the lattice top!
I was going to say the same thing as your mom- maybe wrong kind of apples? Could have used a little more flour? Who knows. Some people dig gooey pies..
Sometimes, it's the apples. Like your mom said, I always use a little flour or cornstarch in the sugar mixture. Did you serve it warm or at room temperature? ALSO, It's beautiful!!!
You and Stacey should make an apple and gruyere pie; I've always wanted to test it out since Pushing Daisies.
How'd your mulled wine turn out? I made some last week and used a little gran marnier and honey. I forgot about spiced cider as an ingredient. Great call!
