Rebel, Rebel
I really can't get enough of this woman. Her facial expressions alone. Here's another.
I saw Pitch Perfect this weekend and it was LIFE. CHANGING. Anyone want to start an all female a cappella group just for fun??

Being Obsessed

Just thought you should know that a great, great, great show is on Instant Netflix right now called "Being Human." It's from the UK (where all amazing shows come from, I've begun to believe), and it's about a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost whom are room-mates! There are three seasons, and I'm nearly done with the third -- it just keeps getting better and crazier. "Being Human" is funny and scary; challenging and lovely; dark and riveting.
Plus, Aidan Turner, who plays the vampire, Mitchell, is so amazingly beautiful... he kinda looks like my boif. :)
Goodness gracious, what would I do without television. I'll tell you what: I'd probably be more active and less sedentary. Woops!
Oh, P.S.: They've recently made an American version of the show on the SyFy Channel, but I haven't seen enough of it to know whether it's any good.

Shout-Out To ...
... Taran Killam for doing a perfect dance rendition of Robyn's "Call Your Girlfriend"! He is adorable. And talented. And might be one of my favorite new cast members on SNL. Sigh, sometimes I wish I was talented enough to be a writer/cast member on SNL. It looks like they all have a lot of fun together. Maybe I'll just reboot Seattle's lame-o version of SNL, "Almost Live."

'Ween Tings
Svpply.com just came out with the ability to make sets of products... AKA, a total time-waster for Allie Fraley. Here's one that I made of awesome Halloween things.
Next post I'll do a few Halloween costume ideas... I am struggling to figure out what I want to be. Put it off till the last minute. What are you going to be for Halloween?

Daily Grace
I'm currently obsessed with Daily Grace, a funny sort of young lady who is an Internet superstar. Lucky. I want to be you, Grace. I hope you enjoy her. There's so very much more of her on YouTube. Funny ladies: I can't get enough of 'em.

I'll Stop the World and Melt With You

Shout-out to Fremont Coffee Company for playing the 80s hits currently.
Nothing inspires me more than Paula Abdul when I'm trying to write a boring article on undergraduate research!

Happy Birthday, Moorea!
Happy Birthday to one of my best friends. I'm so glad you were born. To quote myself from 2008 (yeah, I'm doing it):
God must have said when he was knitting us together in our mommies' wombs, "Ooh! It will be so wonderful for these girls to come together in time and become close sisters... They really need to know each other." I think that's what He said.Love you, with whipped cream and a cherry on top!

La vie est belle

Sometimes after a very blah day, you have to treat yourself to a nice meal and nicer company. Here's what went down on Tuesday:
Dinner at Bastille
La Biciclette cocktail ... gin, sweet vermouth, St. Germain, peach bitters
Salade Verte ... Mixed greens with zinfandel vinaigrette and chives
One glass of Le Clos des Lumières Rosé
Steak frites au Roquefort ... Grilled flat iron steak, red wine poached shallots, and Roquefort butter, served with pommes frites
Digistif ... Glass of Amaro Nonino (seen above; tastes like orange blossom), plus a sample of green chartreuse (also seen above), because I chatted up the bartender :) tastes like very very alcoholic herbal tea. Simply amazing.
Butterscotch creme brulee.
The Company
Stacey ... Always up for a good meal. That's why I love her.
Maddie ... The most attractive friend I have. A man has to be an idiot not to fall in love with her.
Michael ... My old friend from Santa Barbara who I went to junior high and high school with, up to see his sister's graduation.

Happy Birthday, Leslie!

I met Leslie my freshman year of college. Back then, she was a raven-haired skater girl. Now she is a raven-haired power player in the professional world. But when she's not wearing the hell out of a lady suit, she's singing karaoke or sipping fine whiskey or baking crazy things like champagne cake. I love this friend of mine. She has the best laugh, calls me Shmal, is nearly always down for shopping, eating fancy, getting pedicures, and singing loudly in her car. She's an ultimate friend.
Ok, here's a treat for you: It's me and Leslie singing "Poker Face" at our friends' wedding last summer. You can't actually see us, but that doesn't matter. Leslie KILLS IT. Just ignore my voice.

She lived in the woods!
So excited to see comedienne/writer Jen Kirkman's touring show this Saturday. She's my favorite "Drunk History" narrator. (Warning: There's quite a lot of naughty language in this vid).
