Ok, Fall is Here

I was a little hesitant at first, but I'll make the official announcement, here on the blog... AUTUMN HAS ARRIVED.

Goodbye, summer. Hello: Golden leaves, layers, cozying up to good books, a new color palette, crisp apples, staying indoors, sweaters, loafers, blankets, harvest, pies, army green, hearty soups, knit everything, warm beverages, hats, pumpkin orange, hand-me-down cardigans, back-to-school style...

It actually hasn't gotten super chilly yet here in Seattle, but the leaves are slowly changing colors and the air is different.

My style has changed from casual summertime shorts and minimal makeup, to accesorized, layered, and bright lips.

First Day of Fall

"Summer always feels endless until it suddenly ends. For kids, there is no greater tragedy than summer’s end. September is the Monday of months."

-Jeff Scher, painter and filmmaker

It's always sad to see summer go, as Jeff Scher expresses. Every year we always feel like it's over in a flash. Here in Seattle we get two more days of summer weather: today and tomorrow the high is 80 degrees!

But Autumn is a magical time, and I welcome it; I think it's the most romantic season.

I can't wait to go...

Tomorrow is the first day of Fall. Which means, I need to put a trip to the pumpkin patch on my calender! I would be amiss if I didn't wear a warm coat and sturdy shoes to the patch. And they better have some hot chocolate on hand. Otherwise I'll just bring a packet of Swiss Miss with me... and something to spike it with :)

American as...

Yesterday was a Fall-spectacular kind of day.

ONE
Stacey and I mulled wine. We used some pre-mixed mulling spices I got last year at Peet's Coffee, some Charles Shaw wine (only the finest), Trader Joe's spiced cider, and a little bit of sugar.

TWO We made an apple pie from scratch. Here's the recipe we used. It was fairly simple although something was off because when we cut into the pie after it had baked, there was a LOT of liquid from the apples (anyone know what happened?).

THREE We carved pumpkins, and roasted the pumpkin seeds. They're now sitting on our porch, and I plan to put tea lights in them tonight.

I LOVE FALL!!!

"falling leaves hide the path so quietly"

Happy weekend! Tonight, I'm going to be a total hermit and stay in to watch the end of Little Dorrit (Matthew MacFadyen, yes plz). And tomorrow I'm going up to Bellingham for a Fall-themed day: corn maze, pumpkin carving, cider... SO EXCITED!

Snuggie

Does it feel like autumn where you are, reader? It definitely feels like it here in Seattle! All I want to do is bundle up in a warm blanket and snuggle with someone cute. Have a wonderful first weekend of autumn; do something seasonal and fun, like baking a pie, knitting a scarf, or going for a brisk walk!
