Pie High

Hella whipped cream.

Last week for Josh's birthday, I wanted to make him a pumpkin dessert since pumpkin is his favorite flavor, but alas I was sick with a cold! So I decided to buy him a fancy pie from A la Mode Pies. It was the best decision ever. The Holiday Pumpkin Pie has a gingersnap crust (my favorite part), with a spiced pumpkin custard, adding cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, allspice, vanilla and a hint of ginger, and all topped with maple-flavored whipped cream and candied pecans.

You don't have to buy a whole pie to try this amazing treat. You can get slices at the cafe!

Pumpkin Patch / Golden Gardens

I can't wait to go...

Tomorrow is the first day of Fall. Which means, I need to put a trip to the pumpkin patch on my calender! I would be amiss if I didn't wear a warm coat and sturdy shoes to the patch. And they better have some hot chocolate on hand. Otherwise I'll just bring a packet of Swiss Miss with me... and something to spike it with :)

Happy weekend! Tonight, I'm going to be a total hermit and stay in to watch the end of Little Dorrit (Matthew MacFadyen, yes plz). And tomorrow I'm going up to Bellingham for a Fall-themed day: corn maze, pumpkin carving, cider... SO EXCITED!

Nightmare on 58th Street

Last night, Scott, Danielle, Joe and myself carved some pumpkins.

Then we read ghost stories and watched an episode of "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"

All in all, a devilishly good evening.

The Autumn Leaves Caress the Trees, Tenderly...

The funny thing about autumn is that I always forget how much I love it. Probably because it is always so heartbreaking to see summer go. But on that first autumnal day of the year, all the bitterness I hold towards the changing seasons melts away. Because autumn (in Seattle) means:

• The air starts smelling like candied apples
• Time to break out woolen sweaters, homemade scarves, and bright red mittens (I just purchased a knit hat that looks like the color of rainbow sherbet)
  
• Walks along the canal and over to Fremont to buy groceries from PCC are made more enjoyable by golden leaves on trees, duck couples, and crazy squirrels clinging to branches high above
  
• Tea kettles are certainly getting more use... And soups are being more readily consumed... My room-mate and I made chicken tortilla soup for our friends and it was delicious!
