This is kind of horrible

But since Dotty is at home all day, it would be great if I could employ her to make Christmas cookies for me.

A girl can dream, can't she?

Running on Empty

So so SO many social things going on this week. Not that I don't love being with my friends, but goodness, I am feeling slightly drained, which usually means I need to spend at least one quiet evening by myself (well, Dotty is free to join me) and relax. Until whenever that happens, I have a birthday party, First Thursday, girls' night, and a going away party to fill my upcoming nights. Sigh.

Running through my head...

Too much time in front of the computer today...
Burnt out...
Frustrated with work...
Wishing I were on vacation...

Should I leave work early?
There's nothing to do...

WILL get my hair cut this week...

Also have a monstrous pile of laundry to do...
Too bad our unit's dryer is broken...

Ok, this is all too depressing...
Must think of something positive...
I have Boyfriend's car for the week!
Hooray for a controllable mode of transportation!

Wasn't quite impressed with the last episode of Skins I watched...
Was Tony imagining that rebellious chick??

SO sore from training yesterday...
I think I might be walking funny as a result...

Racquetball with Danielle tonight...

Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day... Do I need to celebrate??

My cat needs litter for her potty box...
I need a gin and tonic...

Until tomorrow!

Tree Swing

Tita and I discovered a mighty good tree swing across the creek today. When we were younger, we were lucky to discover intense tree swings in the same area, built by an unknown genius, hanging from the tall eucalyptus trees. You'd have to drag it up a dirt hill and then jump in the air, securing your legs around the wooden plank seat, and go soaring over the creek. I was nearly fearless as a kid. I hesitated today to jump on that tree swing, proof that I am more of an adult than ever. But I'm glad I did it.

Bubbles

Waiting at the 15th & Leary bus stop is very dreary.

Cars zipping by, cold wind, trash... Sort of
depressing, and never an opportunity for a smile.
But this morning,
something magical happened: a man drove by with a contraption on the window of his car that made bubbles as the car moved.

So all these
bubbles were floating in the air around the bus stop. And the three commuters and I just looked at all the bubbles and smiled at the beautiful irreverence of it all.

I wish I had the opportunity to give that bubble man a hug.

I am born anew in your genius

The things that go through my head...

A pear and a peach are sitting on my desk.

And so I felt the need to give them emotions and intellect.

Why? Why??

Thankful

I just want to say that I'm very, very thankful. So, so thankful. My heart is bursting.

That's all.

Poor Kid!

I just got two missed calls from some random child who was asking his mom to bring him a lunch because he forgot to sign up today in the cafeteria.

Kid, do I sound like your mother? Is her name Allie as well? I'm sorry but I cannot provide you with a lunch today. I wish I could, I really do.

I hope he doesn't call again. That would be awkward.

It's me again...

I feel like I've done a gajillion posts today (dry spell at work, wouldn't you know) but I just have to share with you these amazing fabrics I got yesterday, with the help of my fabric store friend Jessica. My living room pillows need a little revamping, and these prints will be purrfect-- summery, bright, and fun!

You are 64% pure.

Is that a good thing??

Basketball?

Shocker of the Month:
I did a bracket for March Madness.
FYI: I don't ever watch basketball. But, a coworker printed out brackets, and I thought, what the heck, why not try my luck?
Needless to say I was really happy Purdue won last Sunday... Yah.
Who even am I?

One

With as much creativity as you can muster, show your heart in:

1 picture

1 poem
1 song or piece of music

1 phrase or quote

1 place

ONE PHOTO.

ONE POEM.
"Welcome Morning" by Anne Sexton

There is joy
in all:
in the hair I brush each morning,
in the Cannon towel, newly washed,
that I rub my body with each morning,
in the chapel of eggs I cook
each morning,
in the outcry from the kettle
that heats my coffee
each morning,
in the spoon and the chair
that cry "hello there, Anne"
each morning,
in the godhead of the table
that I set my silver, plate, cup upon
each morning.
All this is God,
right here in my pea-green house
each morning
and I mean,
though often forget,
to give thanks,
to faint down by the kitchen table
in a prayer of rejoicing
as the holy birds at the kitchen window
peck into their marriage of seeds.
So while I think of it,
let me paint a thank-you on my palm
for this God, this laughter of the morning,
lest it go unspoken.
The Joy that isn't shared, I've heard
dies young

ONE SONG.

ONE PHRASE.

"Once upon a time..."

ONE PLACE.

Thanks to Loveology for the idea.

Moi

One of my favorite sounds in the whole world is the sound of a piano playing.
I like my strawberry blond locks.
I change the desktop background on my computer every Monday.
I used to read a lot, but not so much anymore.
I like violent paintings from the Renaissance era. The more blood, the better.
I'm obsessed with specialty supermarkets. I'm one of those people who'd spend $6 on a nugget sized piece of imported Gruyere.
I used to hate cigarettes, then I used to like them at times, then I tolerated them, and now I'm back to hating them. Back with vengeance.
There's nothing better than pizza and beer.
I love red wine, but lately white wine has been the object of my desire.
When my boyfriend buys me flowers, I go all ooey-gooey inside.
I've always liked guys with scruff on their faces. Good thing Boyfriend's good at the scruff!

Sometimes I dream about a big plate of eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, and toast when I wake up in the morning.
I try to drink a cup of tea every day.
I love feeding other people. i.e. cooking for them.
I kind of believe in ghosts.
I hate when people try to force music on me. I usually like discovering it on my own. Or I just listen to old stuff all the time.
I wish I could serve God in a better way. Like helping sick people get better. Or ending wars.
When/if I get married, I want to wear flowers in my hair.
I want a pet cat more than anything in the world currently.
I think Baby's Breath is so pretty.
I'd like to become an archer.
