CLAUDIA PEARSON DOG PLATE, from West Elm

(I chose the bottom one pictured)

West Elm is my new drug... It appeals to the nesting mode I am currently in.

A Little Mermaid

So, Josh and I didn't end up going out to Halloween party this weekend... therefore, no costumes. BUT! We did have a costume for his sweet little Corgi, Slugs. Unfortunately, it was kind of small for her (oh, that seashell bra...), but she still looks adorable.

And we gave her lots of treats for being such a good sport.

Sophie

This is Sophie. She's a cocker spaniel and poodle mix. And I'm in love with her. Too bad she's not mine. My friend was dog-sitting her a couple weekends ago and I got to hang out with them in the park. Seriously the dearest little thing ever. And now I want to get a dog.

Lump

A sketch of Pablo Picasso's dachshund, Lump (German for "rascal," but cute with the English meaning as well). And the two in a photograph, looking very very happy together.

Happy B-Day to my baby boy, Ralphie!

Cutest dog on the planet, I tell you.

Sometimes I pretend I'm Mary Lennox

For instance, this afternoon when I was helping my mom in the garden and I had a floppy straw hat atop my head.

But then Molly the dog starts chewing on little rocks and I have to pry her mouth open and reach in and pick them out.

And as I stand there with dog slobber on my hands, my fantasy dissolves.

Crazy Lady in the Making

One of my biggest fears is that I will end up alone, when all of my friends are paired off with their mates and forget about little old me. It's an irrational fear, and doesn't make any sense, but it is genuine.
But luckily I don't have to worry about being truly alone... Because I can have pets. Pets are true companions. Especially dogs. Dogs love you no matter what. They'll snuggle with you, kiss you, eat dinner with you, go on long walks with you... It'll be great. And don't get me started on cats. I think I mentioned in a previous blog that my cat at home named Charlie is basically my boyfriend. He's such a big macho lover. Well, over the summer I had another boyfriend cat named Willis who was such a big sweetheart, and would always come say hello at our backdoor. Although my room-mates would just say he wanted food. Whatever. Now, Steve the cat is my new favorite cat boyfriend. Steve was also mentioned previously. But apart from his perfect name, he is very loving, and comes running out of his yard to greet you when you walk by.
Basically, I am resigning myself to crazy-ladyhood. It's inevitable. I will have cats. And talk to my dogs as if they are humans. It's going to be a great life.

Dear, sweet Willis
