Remember the Dance-a-Thon??

Well, I finally got pictures back from Dance Your Cash Off to show to you...

It was a crazy event; five hours of straight-up dancing, lots of prizes, and lots of money raised for 826 Seattle.

And my team won Best Team Overall! Our prize? A tour of a firehouse, dinner with the firemen, and a ride on the firetruck. So looking forward to that.

(I also won an individual award for Best Sass... I have no idea why)

Dance Your Cash Off!

{I whip my hair back and forth}

If you know me at all, you know that I L-O-V-E to dance. Well, finally I can put my amazing skills to a good cause:

DANCE YOUR CASH OFF is happening this Sunday! It's a part marathon and part fundraiser dance-a-thon that will help raise money for 826 Seattle—a nonprofit writing and tutoring center dedicated to helping youth (ages 6 to 18) improve their creative and expository writing skills (I used to volunteer there!).

But, in order to be qualified to dance, I need to raise at least $150! All proceeds will go towards 826 Seattle.

Help my team, DENNIS QUAID IS HERE (See brilliant reference) achieve its goal by donating here.

Blog friends, your support is SO appreciated. :)

Shoulder! Chin!

As someone who was uber-involved in musical theater as a youth, I really love this. And I cringe at the same time. Would you hate me if I learned the whole routine??

Pop and Lock

Last night, Maddie and Korinne and I TRIED to go to a hip-hop dance class at Exit Space School of Dance, but there was major discrepancy in the type of class we were allowed to drop into... Long story short, we couldn't take the class and it was lame. And I'm kind of bitter.

But we're flexible girls, so instead we went on a twilight walk around Green Lake, had heart-to-hearts, and on the way back to the car, we spied on the dancers in the dance class. They were really good. I was so jealous. I just stood there, salivating, wishing I was as cool as them. I can't wait for the next opportunity to go. Plus, they were all wearing rad high-tops. So guess what I just added to my wish list :)

Other highlight of the night was getting fro-yo from a place called Zoe Yogurt. It was magical. I've never experienced fro-yo like that before. It's self-serve, you can try samples, and then they weigh it at the end to determine how much you owe!!! Life-changer.

Been Rich All My Life

Highly recommend the documentary Been Rich All My Life, which captures the stories of five women whom in their heyday danced on stage at such prestigious places as the Apollo Theater and the Cotton Club in Harlem. And today in their 80s and 90s they are STILL hoofing! They have all led such vibrant lives and are so sassy and love the hell out of dancing. I hope when I'm that age, I'm still able to do what I love.

En Pointe

Guess what I did last night? I went to a ballet class! It was amazing. The instructor, Ellie Sandstrom, is so knowledgeable and approachable; there's piano accompaniment; and you leave feeling slightly more graceful than when you entered. I've already noticed that I'm holding myself differently (side note: ballet is super hard for people with boobs and butt). Definitely going back.

Kelsey's Classy Dinner Party

Kelsey's birthday was this weekend, so she decided to have a classy dinner party!

The house was gorgeous- candles, stringed lights, brown paper tablecloth with guest's names written on them...

Dinner included warm goat cheese salad, roasted red pepper soup, and a salmon pasta.

The night ended less classy than it began... Hella dance party and goldschlager shots... Ain't no thang!

Let's Go Crazy

Last Friday I went to a Prince vs. Michael Jackson dance party at a local bar. It was pretty awesome, especially since I got to break out my 80s sequin dress again. Luckily, a photographer was present to capture a few magical moments. (The guy making the face is my roomie's brother, Scott)

This little piggy is peacing out.

Hello, Friday afternoon! Nice of you to finally show up.

Tonight, it's pizza, wine, and crafts (knitting for him, painting for me) with Boyfriend. As for the rest of the weekend, who knows? The world is my oyster.

Of note:

Just discovered Har Mar Superstar. He's crazy, but great for dance parties.
I'll be watching the very last Conan-featuring Tonight Show tonight, at 11:35. Show your support for Coco!
OMG, hipsters... Check out this Coachella poster!
Love this clothing!
If only I could get Boyfriend to wear something like this...

*PS: isn't that photo I-wanna-die cute??

42

By Vera Pavlova

I am in love, hence free to live
by heart, to ad-lib as I caress.
A soul is light when full,
heavy when vacuous.
My soul is light. She is not afraid
to dance the agony alone,
for I was born wearing your shirt,
will come from the dead with that shirt on.

Solobob (I still love you)

He was my major crush in high school, as lead singer of Rooney (saw them twice in concert!).
And he starred in The Princess Diaries. Whatevah. I kinda liked it.
This song is infectious. And the video is hella funny.
Hope it perks up your Monday!
