So, this week's obsessive moment for me occurred when I found out Beyonce has a Tumblr. Now we can all peruse amahzing photos of her sippin wine, hanging out with Solange, lounging in a hammock....

I just don't understand how one person could be so perfect.

Let me have my musical theatre geek moment

So you might not know this about me, but I used to be super-duper into musical theatre. I've always danced and sang, I'm not afraid of an audience, I used to act in plays... I've kind of chilled out in all these arenas over the past few years, but I still have a BIG HEART for the underrated art of theatre. That's why when I saw this video on my friend Ian's awesome blog, Dramaturgically Speaking, I almost started crying. a) Wow, such talent: Christian Borle, Celia Keenan-Bolger (who I saw in a production of Our Town a couple years ago!). b) I read Peter and the Starcatchers when it first came out (nerd alert) because Peter Pan is my favorite story of all time; and the imagined prequel is really good! c) What an exciting way of doing theatre! People in a space creating magic around you, as Christian Borle says. Everything being pared down; actors playing numerous roles... Anyway, I could go on. Because I am so obsessed.

Svpply and Demand

Newest obsession: Svpply, an invite-only retail bookmarking website. So if I'm browsing the net (as I often do) and see, for example, an awesome graphic tee or lace-up boot that I want to keep in mind for future reference, I just save it to my svpply collection. And then I get to admire my little collection of pretty things. I have a feeling it's going to come in handy for the holidays.

All the Fashion Weeks.

Can I get a what-WHAT? Now, I haven't intended "No Small Dreams" to become a fashion blog. Au contraire. We like movies, music, love, life, food, books, travel, art... and fashion. But it was definitely fun for me to delve into Fashion Week and all the runway shows, and kind of analyze a bit. Because, hell, I love fashion, always have, always will, no matter how frivolous, silly, and unimportant some people might think it to be (Boo, you whores).

Spring Ready-To-Wear isn't my favorite fashion season. I think it might be Fall, but the cat's still out of the bag (or should I say, the Rochas pigskin tote). But I did pick out a few favorites from the slew of catwalk looks... Rebecca Taylor, Jill Stuart, Lela Rose, Charles Anastase, Erdem, Alberta Ferretti, Moschino Cheap & Chic, and Nina Ricci. So basically a lot of '70s, a lot of romantic, a lot of working girl, and a lot of cheeky looks.

School these days...

My Uncle Andy got me the most amazing present for Christmas: The entire "Summer Heights High" series on DVD. I mentioned the show awhile ago due to the hilarity of this particular clip, but I had never seen an entire episode.

Australian comedian Chris Lilley plays three very distinct characters on the show...


Jonah is a Polynesian punk-ass student who loves break-dancing.


Mr. G is the senior theatre teacher, but really wants to be the head of the theatre department. In the series, he writes a musical about a student at the school who overdosed on Ecstasy. RIDICULOUS.


J'amie (possibly my favorite character) is an exchange student from a private school, who is very accomplished, popular, and "hot."



I'm amazed at how perfect Lilley portrays each character. His Jonah reminds me of all the jackass boys in my high school. Mr. G is off-the-wall ridiculous. And J'amie... Don't even get me started.... Kind of reminds me of my preteen years... the whole world revolves around her. Sometimes I forget it's really Chris Lilley, and not a 17 year old girl!



If you like what Christopher Guest does, or if you like The Office, I think you'll like this series. It's a little racier in terms of language and subject matter... But so what, who cares.
